The Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) will grant permission to phone companies to setup Wi-Fi zones in the country, TRC Director General Anusha Palpita said. Well known as ‘Wi-Fi,’ wireless fidelity enables data transfer via wireless network connections.Accordingly, Wi-Fi zones will be set up in populated areas including the coastal belt (beaches) where more tourists mingle, areas covering public offices, bus stands and railway stations. Preliminary measures of implementing Wi-Fi zones are now undertaken by phone companies that were granted permission, the Director said. Wi-Fi zones will be set island wide under several stages and this task expected to be completed by the end of 2011, he added.

After a long wait, the CyanogenMod 7.1 has finally been released. Although originally planned to release last weekend but some issues with their automated build system prevented that from happening. The latest version adds a host of improvements that can be found  here  and is now supported on 68 devices. Quite a few of these are from Sony Ericsson, something that was possible because the company reached out to CyanogenMod developers and provided them with devices, technical assistance and drivers. Samsung did something similar a while back. f you’ve been using Windows 8 Developer Build, you must’ve noticed that Windows 8 Aero automtically changes the Aero Glass color and effect according to your current wallpaper. Unlike Windows 7 where you have to set Aero Glass color intensity manually, Windows 8 detects color and color intensity of current wallpaper and changes both of them automatically. We have previously covered Aura, which can change Aero Glass color by getting color from wallpaper as well as from active window icon.  Aero Adjuster  is a similar application which brings Windows 8 Aero feature to Windows 7. It adjusts bothWindows Aero color and color intensity according to current wallpaper. Aero Adjuster is more responsive than Aura since it changes Windows 7 Aero Glass effect as soon as you change the wallpaper. The app sits in system tray after being launched.
